Overview
Bhutan, slowly. This isn't a rush to fly in, tick Tiger's Nest off a bucket list and fly out. It's a private, unhurried week shaped around you by a licensed, Bhutanese-owned operator based in Thimphu, with your own English-speaking guide and driver. Share butter tea with a farming family in Phobjikha, eat a simple vegetarian lunch from a monastery kitchen in Punakha, and hoist your own prayer flags at Dochula. Walk through rice fields to Chimi Lhakhang, hike to Chari, where Bhutan's first monastic community began, and give the Tiger's Nest a whole day, ending with a traditional hot stone bath. Try archery, Bhutan's national sport, in Phobjikha, and rest each night in comfortable 3- to 4-star hotels. Your guide brings the places to life with their stories: the Tsheringma goddess of plenty at Tengchen nunnery, Thangtong Gyalpo, the "Leonardo da Vinci of the Himalayas", and Rinpung Dzong, where Little Buddha was filmed.
