The forest canopy is dominated by towering trees such as dipterocarps, mesua, and ironwood. Sinharaja’s fauna is not only ecologically important but also represents a significant part of Sri Lanka’s natural heritage. The dense, untouched forest provides a crucial sanctuary for these species, many of which are endemic or endangered, making it a vital conservation area.
