Founded on a hilltop with views of the ocean, the bay gradually silted up, and since the 15th century, Obidos has been a landlocked town. However, Obidos is not just about its medieval architecture; it is also known for its lively festivals, bookstores, small museums, and local delicacies like chocolate and ginjinha (a cherry liqueur, one serving per person is included in the price).
