Bicycle around Corfu Town as a Local!

Don’t miss the opportunity to see things in Corfu that ordinary tourists will never notice! It will be a much different tour from the classic walks around the crowded shopping streets, as every corner of the Old City may reveal a surprise. Together we will see the most interesting spots of the Old Town, we will chat about history and local customs and we will learn from each other -BICYCLE TOUR Track: Road trip, urban biking (New Fortress, Mon Repos, Old Town) Distance: 12-14 km Duration: 3-5 hours Notes: Visits to the fortreses, archaeological sites and museums are NOT included.    New Fortress of Corfu

   Our tour begins from nearby the New Fortress of Corfu town which is a Venetian fortress built on the hill of St. Mark in Corfu in stages, at the beginning of 16th century. The current buildings which exist within the fortress were built by the British during their rule of the island (1815–63). The Venetian fortifications were later expanded by the British and the French to help defend against a possible Ottoman attack.

   Corfu Old Town

   Corfu Old Town is UNESCO World Heritage site. It has several influences from its Venetian, French, and British past. Its architecture is unique and not similar with any other place in Greece, as it is structured as a labyrinth of narrow, cobblestone alleys (καντούνια), peach and ocher coloured buildings and numerous antique churches.

   Mouse Island

   Visit to Kanoni, from where we can see the famous two landmarks of Corfu, Pontikonissi and Panagia Vlacherena islets, as well as airplanes landing.

   Mon Repos Palace

   Mon Repos is a former royal summer residence a little outside Corfu Town. It lies south of Corfu City in the forest and exotix botanical gardens of Palaeopolis. Since 2001, it houses the small archaeoligical excibition of Palaiopolis

   Corfu Museum of Asian Art

   The Palace of St. Michael and St. George is an historic building in Corfu Town. Commissioned by Sir Thomas Maitland, it originally served as the residence of the British Lord High Commissioner of the Ionian Islands. It was built between 1819 and 1824, to a neoclassical design. The building houses the museum of Asian Art, various temporaty excibitions of greek painting and student projects of visual arts
