Itinerary

Experience an authentic Japanese tea ceremony in a quiet, private setting with only a small number of guests. Inspired by Chaji, the most formal style of tea gathering, this experience offers a rare opportunity to engage deeply with the Way of Tea—far from crowded tourist demonstrations. Your visit begins in the garden with a simple purification ritual at the tsukubai, followed by entry into the tea room. Inside, enjoy a carefully guided ceremony that includes a seasonal bento prepared by a professional chef, a traditional charcoal ceremony, and the preparation and sharing of thick tea (koicha) and thin tea (usucha). Seasonal sweets, selected tea utensils, and the tokonoma alcove create a refined atmosphere rooted in mindfulness and harmony. This intimate experience is ideal for guests seeking a calm, respectful, and authentic encounter with Japanese culture. Important Information: - Small-group / private experience - Ages 20+ - Must be able to sit on a tatami mat - Smart casual attire; white socks required - Food allergies cannot be accommodated - Kimono wearing is available as an optional upgrade. We require a minimum of 2 weeks' advance notice for all bookings.
